Marketing aroundseason on theTreasure Coast.

The population of this coast swings with the calendar, and marketing that ignores that spends money at the wrong time of year.

Between November and April the towns from Jupiter to Fort Pierce fill with seasonal residents and visitors. From May to October they empty out, the heat arrives, and so does hurricane season. Every business here feels it. Fewer plan their marketing around it.

Know your own curve first

Pull two or three years of sales or enquiries by month. Restaurants, boat services, medical practices and home services all peak at different points, and some businesses are busiest in the off season because that is when residents have contractors in. Your own numbers matter more than the general pattern.

September and October: build

This is the quietest stretch for most businesses and the best time to do the work that takes a while to pay off. Website fixes, new service pages, a Google Business Profile clean-up and review requests to summer customers all land before season starts. Search engines take weeks to reflect changes, so work done in October is in place by Thanksgiving.

November to January: be visible

Seasonal residents arrive and many of them need to find a dentist, a pool company, a boat mechanic or a restaurant they do not know yet. They search. Advertising budgets should be highest here, the profile should be current, and the phone should be answered. A missed call in December is a customer who found somebody else.

February to April: convert and collect

The busiest months for most of the coast. Marketing effort shifts from finding people to handling them well: fast responses, easy booking, and asking for a review while the experience is fresh. Reviews gathered now carry a business through the summer.

May to August: keep the lights on

Demand drops, and so should paid spend, but not to zero. Residents who stay year round still need service, and competitors who go dark leave the field open. This is also when a summer offer aimed at locals earns its keep.

Hurricane season: have the messages ready

From June onward, have a plan for what you will post and email if a storm threatens: whether you are open, how to reach you, what you can help with afterward. Roofers, tree services, restoration and generator installers should have those pages built in advance, because search interest arrives all at once and nobody has time to write copy during a storm.

Plan the year once

Write the calendar in September: what gets built, when ads scale up and down, when the review push happens, what the summer offer is. Then adjust monthly against the numbers. The plan takes an afternoon and removes most of the guesswork from the following twelve months.
