Marketing consultation

Senior advice,without hiringa senior marketer.

Some businesses do not need an agency to run their marketing. They need someone experienced to tell them what to do and check that it is working.

Overview

Consultation suits businesses that already have capable people, or a marketing coordinator, or a capable owner who simply lacks the time to work out strategy from first principles. You get the judgment of a senior marketer without the cost of employing one.

Where it usually starts

A review of what you are doing now, what it costs, and what it is producing. That conversation alone often identifies obvious waste. We regularly find businesses paying monthly for tools nobody uses, advertising campaigns nobody has looked at in a year, or agency retainers producing reports nobody reads.

A plan you can actually execute

There is no point recommending a strategy that requires a team you do not have. The plan is scoped to your real capacity, with priorities in order, so if you only get through the first three items you have still done the three that mattered most.

Ongoing or one off

Some clients take a single strategy session and run with it. Others keep a monthly or quarterly check in to review numbers, adjust priorities, and work through whatever has come up. Both work. The monthly rhythm tends to produce more follow through, simply because a scheduled review creates accountability.

Second opinions

We are frequently asked to review the work of another agency. We will give you a straight assessment, including telling you when the work looks perfectly sound and the real problem is somewhere else in the business.

Common questions

Questions weget asked a lot.

How is this different to hiring you to run everything?

With consultation we tell you what to do and check that it is working. With a retained engagement we do it. Consultation suits businesses that have capable people and need direction. A retainer suits businesses that need the work executed as well as planned.

How long is a strategy session?

Typically a couple of hours of working discussion, preceded by our own review of your current position, and followed by a written summary you can actually act on. The written output matters as much as the conversation.

Will you work alongside our existing agency?

Yes, and we do it fairly often. We can act as an independent advisor reviewing and directing another supplier's work. We will not use the position to angle for their contract.

What if you tell us to do something we cannot do?

Then we have scoped it wrong. A plan that exceeds your real capacity is not a plan, it is a wish list, and it is the most common failure in strategic advice.
